The Opposition will scrutinise next month’s State Budget for proof of Labor’s support for the Mackay Priority Development Area (PDA), Liberal National Party Leader Deb Frecklington said today.
“The Mackay PDA will need hundreds of millions of dollars of funding to get off the ground,” Ms Frecklington said.
“If Labor is serious about the proposal then funding will be included the next Budget.
“If there’s no money for the Mackay Priority Development then it’s not a priority at all.
“Annastacia Palaszczuk’s first Budget saw $160 million of infrastructure cut from the Mackay region and statewide infrastructure spending is down by $3 billion a year.
“But Labor has no problem finding cash for a $15 billion tunnel in Brisbane.
“I hope the people of Mackay are not being sold a PDA pup by the Palaszczuk Government.”
