Premier must act to end militant action

LNP Leader Deb Frecklington today called on Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk to intervene in the Rail Tram and Bus Union’s strike and get Queensland’s rail-freight network moving again.

“The RTBU shouldn’t be holding Queensland’s royalties hostage,” Ms Frecklington said.

“The Palaszczuk Government should act to prevent economic harm to Queensland by this militant industrial action.

“It is time Annastacia Palaszczuk stood up to the unions instead of always doing what they tell her. If she doesn’t, it’s further proof the Premier is the puppet of the union movement.”

Ms Frecklington said the actions of the RTBU threatened to further undermine confidence in Queensland as a reliable resource supplier.

“The RTBU strike is on top of the ongoing rail dispute between Aurizon and Queensland coal operators,” she said.

“Annastacia Palaszczuk on her visit to Japan maintained she had the Aurizon situation under control, but it clearly isn’t.

“Annastacia Palaszczuk should never have sold off the Queensland coal network as part of the Bligh Cabinet.

“This is her mess and the Premier needs to act and clean it up.

“Queensland jobs and royalties are on the line if this dispute is not resolved.

“It’s time Annastacia Palaszczuk stood up to resolve this issue once and for all and restore confidence in the Queensland resources sector.”
