I literally married the girl next door and we moved to Burleigh in 1986. 31 years on, we have 3 grown children and 3 grandchildren all living locally.
We have the best features in the world, best beaches in the world, best atmosphere in the world, and my only issue living here now is I’ve got nowhere to go on holidays. So that’s how I sort of see Burleigh – I’ve been living in my ideal holiday destination for over 30 years.
Real Life Experience
I joined East West Airlines as an apprentice aircraft engineer straight after school and went on to take up a position as an aircraft engineer with East West then Ansett on the Gold Coast.
I eventually left the airline industry and set up a niche engineering company in Burleigh that focused on photochemical machining and laser cutting, which I operated for 15 years.
An Active Community Member
I’m a volunteer Surf Life Saver and have held many positions in Pacific SLSC while seeing my children through Nippers. There is something re-invigorating about getting my feet in the sand and watching out over the public.
I’ve also been an active member of the local Rotary Club and Chamber of Commerce for many years and a big supporter of the Burleigh in Pink campaign raising funds and awareness for Breast Cancer.
I’m proud to have delivered some great achievements for the Burleigh Electorate including a $1.8m upgrade of the fire station, almost $1m upgrade to David Fleay Wildlife with an amphitheatre & pontoon and upgrades to James St, West Burleigh Rd intersection and the upcoming Reedy Creek Rd, Bermuda St intersection.
I have also secured well over $2.5m in funding to community & sporting groups including the Men’s Shed, Surfing Qld, Palm Beach soccer club, Miami Seniors Tennis Club and more.
