I was born and raised in Regional Queensland. Growing up, I spent many hours helping my father and brothers with our family farming and contracting business on the Central Highlands. My passion for agriculture and rural affairs shaped my early career, where I worked as an ABC Rural Reporter, an Executive Officer for Fitzroy Food and Fibre and as the Senior Media Advisor to the former Minister for Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries John McVeigh. In 2014, after several years living and working in different parts of Queensland, I resettled in Emerald with my wife Peta and our three school-aged children.
Working for Regional Queensland
I have proudly represented the people of Gregory since 2015. I am passionate about improving the health and educational outcomes of rural and regional Queenslanders. I am working hard with my state and federal colleagues to deliver better telecommunications infrastructure, unlock new markets for agricultural producers, improve services, reduce cost of living pressures and ensure the regions are a safe place to live, work and raise a family.
Since I was elected in 2015, I have worked hard to deliver real results for the Gregory Electorate including defeating Labor’s bad vegetation management laws, ensuring continued support for drought-affected farmers and securing funding for cluster fencing projects in Western Queensland to help revive the sheep and wool industry. I have also secured additional funding for the continuation of the Great Artesian Basin Sustainability Initiative and to fix the Capella State School bore. I will continue to campaign for funding to deliver priority upgrades to our road network including the Clermont-Alpha Road, the Tambo- Springsure Road and the Blackwater-Rolleston Road.
From the gateway to the Simpson Desert in the west to the diverse agricultural industries in the east, the Gregory Electorate encompasses all of the best bits of Queensland. I am proud to represent the Central and Western Queensland region. I am motivated by the resilience of regional communities and their determination to seek out opportunities and drive prosperity in the regions. With the support of the people of Gregory, I am determined to deliver better outcomes for Central and Western Queensland and ensure the regions are a vibrant place to live and work.
