My husband Richard and I moved with our two young children to Currumbin 30 years ago from South Australia to set up a family medical practice in Coolangatta and we are still here. With small business in my blood, I understand the challenges faced on a daily basis and am a vocal supporter of more than 4,700 locally operated businesses.
An Active Community Member
Currumbin is a very close-knit and connected community with a stunning landscape and enviable natural features. Dozens of local groups provide friendship and support which strengthens the fabric of our society and encourages respect for each other and also our environment. As patron and member of many of these groups I have a genuine respect for the values and causes they represent.
Since my election in 2004 I have built a profile as a hands-on politician with a proven track record of getting things done for our community. This has been achieved through close engagement and thorough community consultation with a broad range of individuals, businesses and community groups. First, it was getting the Tugun bypass built, and more recently a petition to fund widening of the M1 to the border saw the Labor government cave in and fund a business case.
Safe, happy communities are built on a foundation of solid relationships and open communication. They are also underpinned by strong laws that protect our lifestyle and keep us safe.
It has been an honour to have served as your local member for Currumbin for 13 years. I am keen to continue with the same enthusiasm and energy I have shown since 2004.
