LNP Leader Deb Frecklington has ruled out tolls as part of her plan to bust congestion by building a Second M1.
“One of the first policies I announced was to put money on the table to get the Second M1 built for Gold Coast motorists,” Ms Frecklington said.
“This commitment is about taking up to 60,000 cars off the existing motorway and busting congestion.
“The Second M1 delivered by an LNP Government will not be a toll road because we know people pay enough tax already.
“The Labor Government doesn’t think the Gold Coast deserves a Second M1 and Labor’s priority is lowering the speed limit on the existing M1.
“Labor’s priorities are all wrong and Annastacia Palaszczuk has no plan to bust congestion.
“Labor finds any excuse to worm their way out of fixing the congestion choking Gold Coast roads.
“The LNP would deliver the Second M1, fast track upgrades to the existing M1 and remove Labor’s speed limit reductions on the existing M1.
“The LNP built the first M1 and it will take an LNP Government in 2020 to build the Second M1.
“The corridor for the Second M1 already exists – the LNP has put money on the table to get on with the planning and build this road.”
