Liberal National Party Leader Deb Frecklington has said approval for the dredging of the Cairns Trinity Inlet is long overdue.
“The LNP welcomes the long-delayed approval of the Trinity Inlet dredging,” Ms Frecklington said.
“Only the LNP has been a consistent supporter of dredging the Trinity Inlet and the hundreds of jobs it will create.
“Labor’s restriction on capital dredging would have killed this project if the LNP Government had not begun the Environmental Impact Assessment process back in 2012
“Annastacia Palaszczuk cut $32m from this project in her first Budget and then did nothing for three years.
“Curtis Pitt told Cairns the project was a priority, but in Brisbane he cut the funding.
“After years of inaction Labor finally came on board at the last election and now they expect a pat on the back from North Queenslanders.”
