LNP plan to back Rockhampton small business

A future LNP Government will introduce a comprehensive plan which will support small businesses and get Queensland working again.

Touring a local business in Gracemere with LNP Candidate for Rockhampton Tony Hopkins today, Deputy Leader and Shadow Treasurer Tim Mander said only the LNP can guarantee no new taxes, cut red tape by 20 per cent and prioritise procurement to support Queensland small businesses.

“Only the LNP has a plan to build a strong economy and create new jobs,” Mr Mander said.

“The Palaszczuk Labor Government has treated small businesses with contempt during the coronavirus pandemic and Queensland can’t afford another four years of Labor.

“Queensland’s 446,000 small businesses are the backbone of our economy, but they have been largely ignored by Labor.

“Well before Coronavirus hit, Queensland had the worst unemployment rate in the nation, business confidence was in freefall and we were home to the most bankruptcies in the country.

“A Deb Frecklington LNP Government will prioritise procurement to support Queensland small businesses and inspire the next generation of business owners, by mentoring 8000 young Queenslanders and provide them with the tools to launch their own small business.

“Labor’s Buy Queensland approach isn’t worth the paper it’s written on.

Between September 2017 and January 2020 Labor awarded $1.2 billion worth of contracts to businesses with a registered main business location outside Queensland.

“The LNP will prioritise government procurement to ensure small businesses get priority consideration for contracts under $250,000.

“We want Queensland to be the state of opportunity once more and that’s why an LNP Government will guarantee no new taxes if we are elected at the next state election.

“Since Annastacia Palaszczuk became Premier, Queenslanders have been slugged with nine new or increased taxes that have ripped $3.5 billion out of the Queensland economy.”

Mr Hopkins said  the LNP is putting up the sign that Queensland is open for business once again and we are unashamed about our plan to grow our economy.
“It’s only under an LNP Government that business will have the renewed hope and confidence to invest in Queensland, to secure more local jobs and get Queensland working again.”
