LNP Deputy Leader and Shadow Treasurer Tim Mander said today’s figures showed Queensland continued to lag behind other states with the second worst unemployment rate in the nation.
“We should be up there with New South Wales but instead Queensland is at the bottom of the pack, fighting off only Western Australia for the wooden spoon,” Mr Mander said.
“Under the Palaszczuk Labor Government, Queensland has the second worst unemployment rate in the nation on both a trend basis and in seasonally adjusted terms.
“On a trend basis, Queensland’s unemployment rate is 6.1 per cent while New South Wales’ rate is 4.8 per cent.
“Queensland is also well behind the national unemployment rate of 5.4 per cent.
“The figures show the Palaszczuk Labor Government’s incompetence and inability to create the jobs Queensland needs.”
