Thousands more Queenslanders are set to fall victim to the Palaszczuk Labor Government’s greedy tax on new cars, campervans and motorhomes.
LNP Leader Deb Frecklington said, under Labor, ‘grey nomads’ and Queensland families keen to enjoy the great outdoors would now be paying thousands of dollars more to ‘live the dream’.
“Today we learn yet more Queenslanders will be victims of Labor’s addiction to tax,” Ms Frecklington.
“Annastacia Palaszczuk’s vehicle tax will add thousands of dollars to the cost of a campervan or motorhome under 4.5 tonnes. *
“Queensland retirees set to take off on their trip of a lifetime will be slugged thousands of dollars extra. After a life of hard work and years of saving, the Palaszczuk Government’s happy to rip money right out of retirees pockets.
“Not to mention battling families whose only hope of a beach holiday is to save up for a campervan.
“Labor is taxing people’s dreams.”
Ms Frecklington said this tax had been rammed through without proper consultation of consideration of those it would hurt.
“Labor slipped this sneaky tax through hoping no one would notice,” she said.
“Industry groups like the Caravan and Trade and Industries Association were ignored, as were the thousands of Queenslanders who’ll be slugged when they go to buy their dream vehicle.
“Premier, these people don’t deserve to be fleeced to prop up your sick budget.
“Whether it’s record high power bills, spiraling petrol prices or the waste tax – Queenslanders are struggling under Labor’s budget of debt, taxes and unemployment.”
