LNP Leader Deb Frecklington said the mess at Ipswich City Council is far from sorted.
“Annastacia Palaszczuk should have cleaned up the mess at Ipswich City Council back in early May, when I called for an independent administrator,” Ms Frecklington said.
“The incompetence of Annastacia Palaszczuk and her bumbling Minister has let the people of Ipswich down.
“What damage will the people of Ipswich face in the next six weeks from a Council that isn’t fit to govern.
“Labor rushed sweeping new powers through Parliament earlier this year to fix alleged corruption at this Labor Council and now they’re saying more legislation’s needed to do the job the first laws were supposed to.
“What a stuff up and a monumental waste of Queenslanders and Ipswich ratepayer’s money.
“This is negligence at its best and incompetence at its worst.”
LNP Shadow Local Government Minister Ann Leahy said the question still remains – what is Annastacia Palaszczuk doing to weed out corruption in the Labor Party in Ipswich.
“The Premier has known about these corruption allegations at Labor’s Ipswich Council for years but has refused to act,” Ms Leahy said.
“We are calling on Labor to make sure the administrator and advisory council has absolutely no links to the Labor Party or this will simply be Caesar judging Caesar.
“Quite simply, this Labor protection racket needs to end.”
