Heat on Labor in solar farm farce

Shadow Minister for Housing and Public Works Michael Hart has moved a disallowance motion today, on new regulations requiring electricians to install solar panels with a total capacity of at least 100kW.

Mr. Hart said the Palaszczuk Labor Government’s regulations are flawed.

“This is just another thought-bubble from Annastacia Palaszczuk and her embattled Minister Grace Grace,” he said.

“Today, the LNP moved to stop Labor driving up the cost of renewable energy generation.

“The Palaszczuk Labor Government’s plan will hurt investment, reduce jobs and drive up electricity bills.

“We are all about safety, but these new regulations are just another unnecessary cost for Queenslanders.

“It’s anticipated prices will soar up to 20% to build the average solar farm.

“The Clean Energy Council has already said lifting, mounting and fixing unplugged solar panels, which were fully insulated and extra low voltage, are safe to handle.

“Master Electricians Australia also strongly oppose the regulation.

“Annastacia Palaszczuk is out of touch.

“She has already slugged Queenslanders five new taxes, the cost of living has sky-rocketed, petrol prices are at record highs and now it will cost more to build solar farms.

“The financial consequences will hit contractors, clients and local communities hard.

“Queenslanders deserve better.”
