Liberal National Party Leader Deb Frecklington has welcomed the Palaszczuk Labor Government adopting the LNP’s plan to fix the M1.
“As soon as the Prime Minister announced $1 billion was on the table for M1 upgrades, I said we would match it,” Ms Frecklington said.
“For weeks, Labor played politics with the M1 and attacked me.
“Only three days ago, Labor’s Mark Bailey was writing letters attacking our plan to work with the Federal Government on a 50:50 funding investment for the M1.
“I just wanted the blame game and constant politics with this road to stop and just get it fixed.
“This is a spectacular backflip from Annastacia Palaszczuk to follow one part of our plan to bust congestion.
“Labor have been running Queensland for most of the past 20 years and have neglected the M1.
“Due to relentless campaigning we may finally see some light at the end of the tunnel for motorists.
“I want Queenslanders to get home sooner and safer.
“Much more needs to be done to fix congestion in southeast Queensland.
“We need to invest in more infrastructure projects and plan for the future, such as an alternative road to the M1.
“Upgrades just address current issues. We need a plan for the future, such as a second M1. Only the LNP is planning for the future.
“Our campaign to bust congestion is only just beginning.”
