Caloundra to get moving under LNP road plan

LNP Leader Deb Frecklington has promised to get Caloundra moving again with a $35 million commitment to fast track the Bells Creek Arterial Road, if elected on October 31.

Ms Frecklington said the LNP’s commitment would trigger an equal contribution from the landowner, fast-tracking the $70 million project to create more than 200 local jobs, cut travel time and get Sunshine Coast families home sooner and safer.

“Upgrading the Bells Creek Arterial Road and connecting it to the Bruce Highway is an important project that will be fast-tracked under an LNP Government I lead,” Ms Frecklington said.

“This project is part of the LNP’s $1 billion South East Queensland Congestion Busting Program, which will get more than 3100 Queenslanders in desperately-needed jobs.

“The Bells Creek Arterial Road will provide a new access road to the Sunshine Coast from the Bruce Highway and take pressure off Caloundra Road.

“Commencement of this project will unlock a further $300 million in private sector investment and new land to build housing for local families, while securing around 800 jobs.

“More than 200,000 Queenslanders are out of work and this is part of my plan to stimulate the economy and drag our state out of recession.

“The foundations of the LNP’s plan for a stronger economy and secure jobs are investing for growth, unleashing Queensland industry, supercharging the regions and securing our children’s future.

“An LNP Government will kick-start this project because Queenslanders need new jobs now – not years down the track.

“Labor doesn’t have a plan to create more jobs and Queensland can’t afford another four more years of Annastacia Palaszczuk’s go-slow approach.”

LNP Candidate for Caloundra Stuart Coward said the economic benefits for the Bells Creek Arterial Road are enormous.

“This in one of the fastest growing regions on the Sunshine Coast and this $70 million project will get more locals in jobs and help boost local economies across the Coast,” said Mr Coward.

“Only a Deb Frecklington LNP Government has a plan to invest in major job-creating infrastructure for the Sunshine Coast, after five years of neglect under the Palaszczuk Labor Government.

“I’m very excited about this funding commitment and I can’t wait to see shovels in the ground if Deb Frecklington is elected Premier on October 31.

“I will not stop fighting for more local high-paying jobs, better services and greater investment for the people of Caloundra.”
